SEAMEO – SEA TEACHER BATCH 6
Purpose of Practicum
The purpose of this practicum is to resolve the demands of the project made by SEAMEO for prospective teachers more precisely because this practicum is required to teach. In addition to teaching practicum, it can also develop knowledge about teaching skills that can be practiced directly in the classroom, how to manage classes, and how to transfer our knowledge to students using English, because the practicum is not in my own country but the scale of the practice is scaled to international students so that besides teaching, they are trained to use English.
Procedures of Practicum
Practicum begins with orientation with the teacher to find out the curriculum and outcomes to be achieved in the practicum process. Besides orientation, observations were also conducted on the cooperating teacher in the class to observe how to manage the class, how to deliver the material so that the teaching and learning process went well. Not only teachers are observed, but students also know what learning methods or models can be used to help students understand the lesson. So that before the practicum a teaching plan based on the curriculum was made.
Outcomes of Practicum

Get experience teaching mathematics using English. Can improve lessons, abilities and conditions in teaching abroad

Opening the way of thinking to be more widely in developing education, and culture.

Knowing about the education system in other countries, so that it might be learned and applied to build a better education system.
The Challenges of Practicum
For me, the biggest challenge in this practice is how I can deliver learning material to my students. I who taught mathematics were required to teach using English. There are sometimes some misunderstandings because the dialect they use is very different from what English should be, emphasizing their letters when speaking. And sometimes I don't understand and try to understand what my students are asking in class during practicum.
Overall Impression
SEA-Teacher Project as the organizer by SEAMEO that has provided opportunities for students who want to develop experience to learn and develop their knowledge and abilities in any situation. And teaching is not only about transferring knowledge but how to understand each character and nature of the students so that they can motivate them.
Suggestion and Future Improvement
SEA-Teacher Project 6th batch is quite good, but in the future it might be improved in the distribution of students from each university not only from one country but can be mixed from 2 or 3 countries.
So for example I am from Indonesia, because one dormitory comes from Indonesia when returning to the dormitory will use Indonesian when talking to friends in the dormitory.
