SEAMEO – SEA TEACHER BATCH 6
August 6-9, 2018
On August 06, it became my first day for class observations. Before observing the class we met Ma'am. Louie Galaura who was an assistant principal for high school. We were also introduced to our cooperating teachers, our subjects we will teach, and also the topics. I got General Mathematics for the eleventh grade, and my cooperating teacher who worked with me was the name of Mr. Roderick Dionaldo, he was kind and welcomed me.


Then we followed Ma'am Galaura to their flag ceremony to introduce ourselves in front of the students. Because we teach in senior high school, so we attend the senior high school flag ceremony. Because they have different times and places for their flag ceremonies at every level.


My first class for observation was HUMSS-2. Before they start class, they pray and then say hello. To say hello to start class they can say "Good morning" and then the teacher's name after that they can say "We are glad to see you, Pauline peace to you" and then they slightly bend their heads and put their right hand in front of the chest. So for the first greeting like this "Good morning Mr. Dionaldo (the family name of the teacher who works together), and good morning visitors (because they don't remember my name haha), we are glad to see you, Pauline peace to you". After greeting, I reintroduced my name, so funny when they tried to name me because it was rather long and difficult to remember, so I said that they could call me Miss Mady to make it easy. Then I sat behind the class, and my cooperating teacher began teaching. The topic they learned was about function. So because it's my observation class, I just sat down and observed how the my cooperating teacher teach and how he managed the class. Because this is the beginning of a new semester so the first topic they learn is about function. They start from the meaning of function, how to distinguish between functions and relations, and others about functions. After being given the subject matter, they are given a task to do in the classroom by groups.



For General Mathematics has a time span of one subject is two hours. After class at HUMSS-2, my cooperating teacher, give my schedule to teach. I have two classes, namely HUMSS-2 and STEM-2, so in the morning I was at HUMSS-2 and in the afternoon I was at STEM-2. The schedule is like this.

After class they will pray again and after praying they can say greeting. For greetings after class they will say "Goodbye" then their teacher's name after that they will say "Have a nice day, and God bless you always" and then their heads will be slightly bent. So for his words it will be like this "Goodbye Mr. Dionaldo, goodbye Miss Mady, have a nice day and God always bless you". And my students say that greetings are like wise, when they say it.
After the class ended, my cooperating teacher show to me the class that I was going to enter in the afternoon, so after class in the morning I had classes in the afternoon like on schedule. So, at 1:20 p.m. I went to class waiting for my cooperating teacher in front of the class. Then we enter the class. As in HUMSS-2, in STEM-2 before they start classes, they can pray and say greetings, ahh and prayers led by the teacher. They have the same topic as in the HUMSS-2 class in the morning. So, at STEM-2 I just sat behind and watched. Look at how my cooperating teacher teach and manage classes. And after class they can pray and say greetings like in HUMSS-2.




On August 07, like the previous day (first day of class observation). I attended the flag ceremony because the flag ceremony was every day before they started the class, and after that I went to class with my cooperating teacher.


Like the previous day they will start the class with prayers and greetings led by the teacher. And in my class I just sit behind and observe. On Tuesday I only have classes in the afternoon at STEM-2. On that day, they were given a test by my cooperating teacher. And after the exam, they check the answers together. Then the number of correct answers is calculated so that they are the test scores they get.


After the test my cooperating teacher give them group activities. From group activities, their creativity is built. Because they have to complete their group activities using illustrations, they draw and explain illustrations with one of them as representatives of each group. Because the values of their presentation are derived from solutions, correct answers, presentations, and creativity. So they have to draw their illustrations on Manila paper, the type of paper they use and the color is yellow. They have eight groups, and are given four questions by my cooperating teacher. So the two groups got the same question. They are given time to complete it and after that representatives from the group will be presented in front of the class. And I also took part in giving values, with the category of presentations given by my tutor teacher.



On August 08, like the previous day (second day of class observation). I attended the flag ceremony, and after that I went to class with my cooperating teacher.


Like the previous day they will start the class with prayers and greetings led by the teacher. And in class I just sit and watch. On Wednesday I only have morning classes at HUMSS-2. Like the previous day at STEM-2, HUMSS-2 was also given a test by my cooperating teacher. After working out they correct together and the correct number of answers is the value they get.



And after the exam, my cooperating teacher gave task like in STEM-2. And during the presentation I also took part in giving values to each group.


On August 09, like the previous day (third day of class observation). I attended the flag ceremony, and after that I went to class with my cooperating teacher.



Like the previous day they will start the class with prayers and greetings led by the teacher. And in class I just sit and watch. On Thursday I have morning classes at HUMSS-2 and in the afternoon at STEM-2. And the class activities conducted by my cooperating teacher are doing quizzes by groups. My cooperating teacher gave the quiz name "Quiz Bee". Then when the question is up, and the quiz is finished my cooperating teacher will say which group wins. After the quiz, my tutor teacher continued the learning material. Like in HUMSS-2, so is in STEM-2.

And August 09 is the last day for class observation. Then August 13 will be the first day of my practice teaching.
My cooperating teacher said that the schedule for teaching starting on Monday, August 13 in the morning will start at 7:45 a.m. and in the afternoon will start at 1.10 p.m.
